Bence digital Mammography European Tour
Bence
has recently exhibited and demonstrated its new digital Breast Screening Unit
during a series of Roadshows across Croatia and Poland.
In association with GE Healthcare, the latest state of the art mobile digital
Breast Screening Unit was demonstrated at a Breast Imaging Conference at the
University Hospital Dubrava in Zagreb, Croatia before heading to Poland. Over
100 delegates visited the unit during the course of the Conference, with many
positive comments received. Croatia is at an early stage of developing a
Breast Screening Programme similar to the successful and well established
screening programme in the UK.
The
unit then went on to visit the Great Poland Cancer Centre in the centre of
Poznan in Poland where a
joint congress had been organised by WH Bence and GE Healthcare. Both companies
presented presentations on mobile digital breast screening and the congress was
also featured on local television.
The
unit then moved on to the Central Institute of Oncology in Warsaw where a similar
congress was held. Delegates included professors, clinicians, radiography
technicians and independent screening providers, who were all given a guided
tour of the unit which enabled the delegates to view the unit and gave them the
opportunity to ask questions. The overall response from the delegates was
extremely positive and both GE Healthcare and Bence were encouraged by the level
of interest.
During the stay in Warsaw, the unit was moved to the very centre
of the city to the grounds of a palace where a special event was organised for
the media. Over 40 journalists from radio, newspapers and magazines attended the
event which was organised to raise the awareness of breast cancer and the
benefits of a national screening programme. As a result of this event, many news
articles and features will appear in local and national press over the course of
May and June. Following the presentations, the journalists were extremely
interested in the mobile unit and the technology within and asked several
questions during the course of the Questions and Answers session. All the
journalists visited the mobile unit and, again, were very impressed with the
quality of the unit and the technology on board.
The
final destination for the tour of Poland was the Centrum Dydaktyczno University in Krakow.
Once again, presentations were given by both GE Healthcare and Bence, together
with an eminent Doctor who specialised in breast imaging. Delegates were
provided with tours of the unit and, again, very positive comments were
received.
The
unit then moved on to its final destination in Belgrade, Serbia, where it has been purchased by a charity
foundation to provide breast cancer screening within Serbia.
The
Roadshow events in both Croatia and Poland proved to
be a very valuable exercise for both Bence and GE Healthcare which will help
establish both companies as a leading supplier within these regions. Very useful
relationships were established during the course of the events with both Bence
and GE Healthcare feeling confident that the events will lead to further
business opportunities within the region.
