BBC Radio Outside Broadcast Trailer
Client: BBC
Location:
Date: 17th September, 2008
When the BBC were seeking to
purchase a new Outside Broadcast facility for their radio operations, they
turned to WH Bence who designed and built a state of the art facility to meet
their stringent requirement.
Based on a 13.6m trailer the OBU
provides accommodation which includes a studio and control room at the rear of
the unit, with space for all the integrated broadcast equipment at the front.
The unit has a very sophisticated AC and DC electrical system and incorporates a
hydraulic slide-out platform on the side of the unit to enable access to the
various areas.
The unit, which is the flagship
radio outside broadcast unit for the BBC, has a very high standard of sound
attenuation and the acoustic capabilities of the unit set a new benchmark for
the BBC for all future units.
Bence worked extensively on this
project with the BBC and the systems integrators to deliver the most
sophisticated radio outside broadcast unit within their
fleet.
